about kay akard

Kay Akard grew up in Indianapolis, earning a BA in journalism and political science from Indiana University. She was a reporter and producer at several newspapers and television stations in Central Indiana before moving overseas with her husband. They lived and worked in Mumbai, India; Brussels, Belgium; and Washington, D.C. before returning to Indianapolis to raise their three daughters.

 

She began oil painting as a way to more fully see the world and appreciate its beauty. She has taken classes at the Indianapolis Art Center and workshops throughout central Indiana. She enjoys painting sailboats on Eagle Creek Reservoir near her home and landscape scenes from her travels and those of her friends and family.
